AI-enabled

An administrator has the adviser's notes from a first meeting with Tom and Grace Oduya. She opens the AI page in the firm's back office, pastes the notes in and asks for a fact-find. The AI drafts one on its page, and she keys each answer into the fact-find fields. A paraplanner then checks every field against the AI's page. They all match. A month later, drafting the suitability report, the adviser sees Tom's own pension contribution recorded as 8%. The notes say 5%, but the AI's page said 8%.

The AI in this product sits on a page of its own, reads what someone pastes in there and can write nowhere else. So its answer became one more document between the notes and the record, keyed across by hand. That makes the product AI-enabled. In AI-enabled software, people do the work through the product's screens. The AI sits only in particular places, such as a button, a side panel or a separate page. It works on whatever the person or the product gives it there and can't act anywhere else in the product.

Many firms check keyed fields against the document they were keyed from, such as a provider statement. That check works when the document is a source. Here it was the AI's page, which is only the AI's reading of the notes, so the check confirmed the keying and nothing more.
